THE 2000S
A period of physical and psychological suffering, where painting remains the only constant for the painter. Now interested in the infinitely big, as well as the most insignificant, minute, detail, Verzoletto paints enormous skies by moving the line of the horizon down on the canvas, or portraits small rocks and leaves of grass, bringing the horizon up. We have religious subjects, alongside the usual landscapes. The woks become less and less descriptive and more evocative, while the palette is simultaneously enriched with contrast and the combination of background and figure gets blinding, even discordant, even though always emotional.
