TH1 1980S
In this period, artistic research brings him to more original, less derivative results. Landscapes go alongside human figure and self-portraits, interiors and exteriors. Some series represent sunflowers, vineyards, rice fields. Brush strokes are fluctuating, directed, stretched, and repeated, used to move the whole structure of water, earth and sky. This texture makes the surface of the canvas similar to a tapestry. The painter’s artistic vision grows ever sharper, with attention to detail as well as the general picture, while geometric structure gets more and more complex. The colour couplings are new, surprising even, thanks to the masterful use of contrast of tones and hues, and complimentary theories. The stylistic reference can now be traced back to Balla’s and Boccioni’s “force-lines”.
